Preparing your manuscript

• Word (.docx), LaTeX or PDF; double-spaced with line and page numbers.
• Anonymise the main manuscript; provide a separate title page with authors, affiliations, ORCID iDs and corresponding email.
• Abstract and 4–6 keywords.
• Declarations: author contributions (CRediT), funding, conflicts of interest, ethics approval and consent, data availability.
• Numbered references (Vancouver or ACS) with DOIs where available.
• Figures at 300 dpi or higher, uploaded as separate files.
• Disclose any use of AI tools; AI tools cannot be authors.

How to submit

1. Go to Submit and choose your journal.
2. Register or log in to submit.nexusjournals.org.
3. Complete the submission checklist, upload files and add co-authors.
4. Track the status of your manuscript in your dashboard.

Review process

1. Editorial check for scope, quality and ethics.
2. Similarity (plagiarism) screening.
3. Double-anonymised peer review by at least two experts.
4. Decision: accept, minor revision, major revision or decline.
5. Copyediting, proofs and online publication.

Publication fees

Our article processing charge (APC) policy will be published on this page before any charge applies. Authors are never charged before acceptance, and waivers will be available for authors from low-income countries and those without funding.
